The Animas Museum

The Animas Museum is owned and operated by the La Plata County Historical Society, whose directors and staff have transformed the 1904 Animas City School building into a charming local history museum.

The Museum offers a variety of exhibits and programs for all ages, and is also home to our research library and photo archives. Sample some of our photo collection here then visit the museum to see more.

For the latest on activities and events at the museum, please check here or on our Facebook page.

The mission of the La Plata County Historical Society is to keep La Plata County history and culture alive for present and future generations.

2015 Annual Campaign

Our Annual Campaign fundraising drive is underway. We are so grateful for the generosity of our members and send hearty thanks to those who have donated. If you haven't yet contributed, there is still time. Contributions are designated to the un-glamorous operating expenses that are the day to day challenges of keeping the Animas Museum open for visitors to enjoy. Donations are usually tax deductible and may be made by clicking the donate button below.

Please suppport the museum by donating today!
