The Joy Cabin
A Blacksmith from New Hampshire named C.B. Joy was said to have built this hand-hewn log cabin, the oldest intact structure left in Durango. He erected the cabin in the 1870s on the North East corner of Main and Third Streets in Animas City, now Main and 31st Street in Durango.
It was used as a home by several other people before it was moved to Brookside Park as a tourist attraction in 1958. The Historical Society moved it to the museum grounds in 1988 where it was completely restored to serve as a living reminder of Animas City's pioneer days.
